Kimberley Ahrens
Mrs. Kimberley Ahrens is in her sixteenth year of teaching in Plano ISD, fourteen of which have been as choral director at Robinson Middle School. Choirs under her direction have consistently earned Sweepstakes awards at UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest and have been successful at various other competitions throughout the state of Texas and the nation. In 2013 and 2018 the Robinson A cappella Treble Choir was selected to perform at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention, and in 2014 the A cappella Mixed Choir performed at the MS/JH National Conference for Choral Music. In addition to her full-time teaching duties, Mrs. Ahrens has served as the conductor for the Apprentice Chorus of The Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas since 2013 and as Director of Children’s Choirs at Transfiguration Episcopal Church in Dallas since 2008. She has also served as an adjunct professor in the music education departments of Southern Methodist University and the University of North Texas.
In 2009 Kimberley received the Texas Choral Directors Association Distinguished Young Director Award, and in 2013 she was named Teacher of the Year at Robinson Middle School. She continues to serve as a clinician and consultant for music teachers, conductors, and singers throughout the state of Texas. She is also a frequent guest conductor, appearing by invitation with youth choirs across the country.
Mrs. Ahrens earned the Bachelor of Music Education degree from Texas Christian University and holds certification in Kodály method from the University of North Texas. She is currently pursuing the Masters of Music Education degree at The University of North Texas. She holds affiliations with the Texas Music Education Association, Texas Choral Directors Association, American Choral Directors Association, and the Choristers Guild. Mrs. Ahrens lives in McKinney, Texas, with her husband Chris, daughter Katherine, son Camden, and their dog, Bandit.
