Hello Gulledge Family!

My name is Susan Schmidt, and I am so proud to be a Gulledge Gator!

A little bit about me:

I graduated in 2013 with my bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin \m/. Shortly after, my husband and I moved to San Antonio where he was stationed in the U.S. Navy. There I spent 5 years teaching Kindergarten and 3rd grade. During this time, I received my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Mathematics from the University of Texas at San Antonio. In 2019, my husband was accepted to Texas A&M Dental School in Dallas, and that is how we ended up here in Plano! I am thrilled to be here and look forward to creating many memories with my husband and two children.

But most of all, I LOVE teaching! I truly believe that every child deserves an equitable education, and it is my job to advocate, support, and listen to my students' voices.  My goal as an educator is to facilitate and guide students through exploring new concepts, challenges, and encourage critical thinking so that each child grows not only academically but socially and emotionally as well.  I believe that all students should be represented in the curriculum and that the curriculum should be integrated within the students' cultures.  I will affirm all students in my class and create a safe learning environment where deep, meaningful learning occurs.
