DEDICATED TO CARING
Social Services Fund – Helping PISD Families
Plano ISD is dedicated to caring and to supporting families in need of assistance in areas that impact children’s education inside and outside of the school day. In support of this caring commitment, School Board President Tammy Richards and her husband, Michael Douglass, have donated in 2019 $5,000 to the Plano ISD Education Foundation with an employer match from the Texas Instruments Foundation of $5,000 that brings the contribution for student and family support services to a generous $10,000. The district places importance on serving both the academic and social needs of students and families. Providing help where help is needed is an important step in educating the whole child. Services provided by this $10,000 donation will add stability to the lives of Plano ISD families and help students stay in school and engaged in their learning environment.
These funds will allow the district to serve families in new ways. For instance, the district has established a service with Uber that social workers can access when the family cannot obtain transportation. This service was not available to social workers and counselors in the past.
