Mr. John Lowrance
Hi.
I am in my 5th year as the Social Emotional Learning Specialist at Williams High School. In that role, I am here to support staff and students grow and develop and understand their social and emotional needs. I am also headding up the Williams Hope Squad group. Simply put, Hope Squad is a peer-to-peer suicide prevention and mental health program.
A little about me: I grew up in Temple, TX and graduated from Temple High School. From there, I went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology followed by a Master of Arts in Kinesiology both from Sam Houston State University. Some years later, I completed my Principal Certification from Lamar University in their online education program.
Although this is only my 5th year at Williams, this is my 24th year in Plano ISD and 26th year in teaching overall. Prior to coming to Williams, I was an Elementary Physical Education teacher and a Varsity Coach. Most of my 18 year career as a coach in Plano was centered around working with Football and Track & Field athletes. However, I also coached Baseball and Softball for a few seasons. I cherished my time as a coach because it allowed me to work with so many great young people. One of the things I love most about my current position of SEL Specialist is that I still get to work with and coach great students. The only difference now is that no one is keeping score.
