Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Amy Schell
Hi all! I am a special education teacher at Hightower Elementary. I work in the Centralized Structured Classroom (Strive). I am so excited to begin teaching with Hightower this year. I grew up in Plano and graduated from Plano West in 2014. I received my teaching certificate from The University of Alabama where I studied Early Childhood Special Education. I earned a dual certificate to teach general education or special education, and my passion is special education! I quickly moved to Austin just after finishing my undergrad degree to earn my Masters in Applied Behavior Analysis at The Univeristy of Texas. I have been working in an ABA clinic for the past two years, but my ultimate goal is to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst for a school district. So I look forward to implementing my knowledge from my Bachelor's degree and my Master's degree to benefit and support each child best in my classroom while I learn the ins and outs of the school system in my hometown!
Each child in my classroom is primarily working on their IEP goals with functional, behavior, and social skills incorporated throughout each learning opportunity in the natural environment of their home during this virtual learning time. We will continue this through in the contrived learning environment of my classroom once we return face to face! Because each student's goals are specific and their skill level/ability ranges, the virtual learning schedule for the students in my classroom is specific as we focus on improving on their goals through one-on-one learning. Please email me if you have a student in my classroom and need their schedule!
