Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Rebecca Absalon
This is my first year at Schimelpfenig, but my 5th year teaching middle school English overall. I have received the warmest of welcomes since arriving on campus, so I know your kids, too, are in fabulous hands with our principals, teachers, librarian, and counselors.
I attended undergraduate school at UNT (Go Mean Green!) and received my BS in Interdisciplinary Studies. Now I’m currently pursuing my Master of Education in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in School Counseling through an online program at Texas A&M University (Whoop!). I am incredibly passionate about mental health of students, parents, and of course, teachers.
When I’m not in the classroom getting to know my students and preparing a safe and loving environment, I’m at home with my puppy Archie and kitty Thor, studying or working on assignments for grad school. I love reading (duh!) and watching cleaning videos on YouTube, or binge-watching episodes of shows I’ve already seen a ton of times.
I’m so excited to get to know all of you this year. If you have any questions, concerns, or compliments, don’t hesitate to reach out!
Oh, and my Instagram is for students and parents alike to follow, so you can find me @ms.absalon.reads! I also love to keep my classroom library fresh with lots of new juicy (and most importantly, diverse) reads for my students, so if you're ever inclined, check out my ever-evolving Amazon Classroom Wish List. Be sure to tell me who it's from so I can send a thank you card to truly express my gratitude.
