My name is Rebecca Sivard and I am the Library Media Specialist at Barron Elementary School. This is my second year as a BIGCAT! I have 35 years of experience in education. Before joining the Barron staff, I was the LMS at Gaston Middle School and Walnut Hill Elementary in Dallas ISD. During my teaching and library career, I spent time in Oklahoma, and Florida as well. I am originally from Ardmore, Oklahoma and graduated from Ardmore High School. After high school, I attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where I graduated with a BA in History, Political Science and Sociology and a BS in Secondary Social Studies. I also attended East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma (Once a Tiger, Always a Tiger), where I received a Master's in Education in Library Science. I love sharing my passion for reading with others. I live in Garland and have been married for 30 years. My husband, Bobby, is a retired welder and pipefitter for Epiroc. My daughter, Mallory, graduated from the University of North Texas and now works in security for Walt Disney World. I am so happy to be a part of the Barron Family.
