I am so excited to be joining the Mendenhall family as a new member of the Special Education team. I am entering into my 4th year of teaching special education and can't wait for the opportunity to continue learning and growing with staff, students, and families.
I grew up in Ontario, Canada with my family and still love going back to visit them. At the age of 18, I moved to Tennessee and attended Freed-Hardeman University on a women's golf scholarship. I had the pleasure of playing golf for my 4 years there alongside talented teammates and supportive coaches.
While attending Freed-Hardeman University, I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I then moved to Nashville, TN and attended Vanderbilt University where I obtained my Master's in Special Education and also completed coursework in ABA (applied behavior analysis). In 2020, I became a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst).
My teaching philosophy centers around building relationships with students. James Comer says, "No significant learning can occur without a significant relationship." This school year I look forward to building strong relationships, supporting students along their educational journey, and celebrating their successes every step of the way.
