I am Racquel Hyland, and I am proud to be a new McMillen Lion!!  I am an authentic southern belle from Vicksburg, MS. I received a Bachelor's Degree in Childcare and Family Education from Jackson State University in Jackson, MS. I am currently enrolled at Louisiana State University at Shreveport, working to receive a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership.

This is my 3rd year teaching Family & Consumer Science, and my first year here at McMillen. (Intro to Culinary, Lifetime Nutrition & Wellness, Child Development, Dollars & Sense, Principles of Human Services, and Principles of Hospitality & Tourism). I have a true passion for teaching and learning!! I love to teach the children as they teach me.  Helping each child progress in all areas of their development is a challenge that I am honored to accept daily.  I strive to create a safe and positive environment for learners that are open to critical thinking to better contribute to our ever changing society. 

I have a 3-year-old daughter. We have lots of fun together.

My favorite pass times are cooking, reading, music, and learning useful materials. 

I am excited for a new year in a new environment.
