The 2022-2023 school year makes this my 10th year as a public school teacher. During that time, I have taught Kindergarten Art through High School Art1, Ceramis II,III,IV, Sculpture II,III,IV, AP Art and Design  and now Special Education. In the last 10 years, I have earned certifications in Art, Special Education, and ESL. In 2018, I earned my Master’s in Art Education and am currently finishing my Principal's Certification and the last bits of my PhD.

 

What I found is that children learn best when they are given a variety of choices to achieve their goals. Children first gravitate to familiar things before they try something new. The work I did in my Master’s program involved finding ways to inject technology into the art curriculum. Now I work with non-verbal students to get acclimated to using ProLoQuo for communication.
