• 2017-18 PISD Flexible Professional Learning

  • Plano ISD is committed to continuous improvement through intentional, reflective and empowering professional learning that meets the individual needs of each campus and our over 4,000 instructional staff members!

In addition to the district designated Professional Learning days in August, January, and February, you will have the opportunity to earn 15 Flexible Professional Learning Hours that you may use in lieu of working on April 2nd and June 4th, 2018.

  • Campus Flexible Professional Learning

  • Your campus Principal will schedule the Professional Learning that will count towards your 7.5 Campus Flex Hours. This learning will be focused on campus needs and designed to impact you and your team! All PISD campuses will be closed on April 2nd, so earning these hours are not optional.

  • Personal Flexible Professional Learning

  • Personal Flex Hours are intended to give you a voice and choice in the learning that you need to grow as educator. The learning that you choose to attend for your 7.5 Personal Flex Hours should support your Teacher Professional Goal & Student Learning Objective, or instruction in your classroom. All teachers are expected to pursue professional learning on an on-going basis, however; if you choose not to record these hours or accrue hours in this manner you may work the scheduled work day on June 4, 2018.

  • Flex Eligible Learning

  • Personal Flex Learning should be tied to your Teacher Professional Goal, align with your Campus Improvement Plan, identified student needs, or in some way impact your instructional practice. Training (SafeSchools, Safety/Security, Finance, Assessment, TELPAS) that are compliance based or meetings (informational meetings, games/performances, planning) do not meet the requirements for Campus or Personal Flexible Professional Learning.

All PISD professional learning activities offered outside of regular working hours or days will be tagged as "Personal Flex Eligible" in MLP if they meet the above criteria, but must still be approved by your Principal or Supervisor to count towards your accrued time off.

  • Tracking Your Flex Hours

  • This year we have streamlined the process in My Learning Plan. You will be able to search for, and track both your Campus and Personal Flexible Professional Learning Hours.

If you are attending a workshop or conference that is hosted outside of PISD, you can upload your certificate to My Learning Plan to request Flex Credit from your Administrator. Check out the My Learning Plan page on our website for more information.

  • 2017-18 Professional Learning Days

  • You may begin accruing your Personal Flex time on the first day after your last regularly scheduled work day (for most employees this is June 6th, 2017).

  •  All Flexible Professional Learning Hours must be earned outside of your regular work day: summer, weekends, before or after school.
