I am a first-year teacher but 25 years late! 

I graduated from Texas Tech with double majors in English and history, and with a minor in secondary education.  I always wanted to teach and obtained my certifications, but the timing was not right then.  I instead went into the financial services industry in a managerial capacity at a large bank.  I always enjoyed coaching my team members to excel in their positions.  I did this for 10 years before I became a mortgage loan officer.  I worked primarily with first-time homebuyers and loved educating them on the homebuying process, and even then, I taught my soon-to-be home buyers what they needed to do to qualify for their first home.  

In July of 2023, I accepted a position teaching 10th grade English II and English II Honors at Shepton.  It was the best decision I ever made.  I can now teach like I had originally wanted to.  I enjoyed the students and have learned more from them than they have learned from me.
