Mr. Steve Luthye

Steve Luthye is the Music Theory instructor for Plano Senior High School. He oversees all aspects of the theory program and teaches the Advanced Placement Music Theory courses. He received his Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Oklahoma State University and his Master of Music in Music Theory from Southern Methodist University.

Prior to coming to Plano Senior High School, Mr. Luthye was the Director of Bands at The Episcopal School of Dallas. He taught brass lessons privately in Garland and Lovejoy ISDs, and served as an adjunct faculty member at Richland College and Dallas Baptist University where he taught Theory, Aural Skills, and Music Education courses.

Mr. Luthye is an active multi-instrumentalist performing live and in studio. He serves as the pianist at the Richardson Church of the Nazarene. His professional affiliations have included the Texas Music Educators Association, the Jazz Education Network, the National Association for Music Education, and the Society for Music Theory.
