Mrs. Laura Sturch

Laura Sturch is currently in her 22nd year as a band director and her sixth year as the Director of Bands at Clark High School.  Mrs. Sturch conducts the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band and the Marching Band.  

Prior to teaching in Plano, Mrs. Sturch was the Head Band Director of Brown Middle School in Forney, TX.  Bands under Mrs. Sturch's direction have earned Superior ratings at UIL, Best In Class ratings at local festivals and has been recognized as "Commended" in the Mark of Excellence National Wind Band Contest.

Prior to teaching in Forney, Mrs. Sturch was an Assistant Director of Bands at Alice High School for eight years.  She conducted the Symphonic Band at Alice High School and the Symphonic Band at Williams Adams Junior High School where her bands earned suprior ratings. Mrs. Sturch taught all of the french horn students in Alice in which her students consistently earned membership into the District, Region, Area and All-State Bands. 

Mrs. Sturch performed with The Dutch Boy Drum and Bugle Corps from Ontario, Canada (1992, 1993) and The Cadets of Bergen County (1994).  She has taught several drum corps including The Spirit of Atlanta (1997-1999), Kiwanis Kavaliers, The Glassmen (2005-2010) and is currently on the brass staff for The Troopers (2017-2020).  She has performed with the Corpus Christi Wind Symphony and the Carrollton Wind Symphony.

Mrs. Sturch holds the Bachelor of Music Education Degree and Masters of Music Education Degree from The University of Southern Mississippi.  She is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, The Texas Bandmasters Association and the Texas Music Adjudicators Association.  She served Region 3 as a MS Band Chair and band organizer for MS and HS All-Region events and served Region 24 as the Assistant Band Chair and band organizer for HS All-Region events.  Mrs. Sturch was recoginized as Teacher of The Year at Brown Middle School, 2013-2014.  

Mrs. Sturch enjoys health and fitness and was selected as 1 of 50 teachers in April 2020 to run the NYC Marathon through a contest to represent teachers from across the US and Canada as a part of Team TCS Teachers.  Mrs. Sturch lives in McKinney with her husband, Greg.
