Ms. McLeroy

Welcome to ASL 2!  I am the only deaf teacher on campus!   I grew up in Texas and my first language is ASL/SEE and my second language is English.  I graudated from Abilene Christian Univiersity in 1990 and for 20 years, I worked in the hotel industry field.   I started off as a data entry clerk, then was promoted to report services and then worked the last 10 years as an Income audtior at the Hyatt DFW airport.   In 2008, I changed my career to become a teacher because I have always had the passion of teaching hearing people sign language and deaf culture.   I taught at private school then later joined PISD in 2010 and this is my 8th year.

This year I will be split campus between Clark High School and Plano Senior High School.  I am excited to be teaching Level 3.

When I am not teaching, I am very actively involved in the deaf community.   Two years ago, a few of us ASL educators started a new organization called North Central Texas ASL and I am currently a secretray.  This past summer, I have been appointed to be a co-chair person for the Texas ASL educators.

Famous Deaf Quote:
As long as we have Deaf people on earth, we will have signs... our beautiful sign language is the noblest gift God has given to Deaf people. -George William Veditz, 1913
