Degrees and Certifications:
Linda Aponte was raised in the Midwest and split her academic years between the urban diversity of Chicago and the more casual lifestyle of Minneapolis. Linda graduated from the University of Minnesota earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis on drawing and painting. Prior to finding her love of teaching, she spent time in the corporate world and worked in graphic design before building a career in retail management. As her family grew, Linda reconnected with her art background and became an art educator with Plano ISD. As an art instructor at Armstrong Middle School, Linda helped develop and write the middle school art curriculum, as well as serve as the PISD middle school art team lead. She co-authored the TEA Innovative Arts and Media Communications course and has been a presenter at numerous professional development experiences around the state. Linda joined the initial core group of facilitators selected to design and implement the STEAM, Interdisciplinary, and Project-Based Learning vision that is Plano ISD Academy High School. At the Academy, Linda facilitates 2nd Year learners in Art and is also the yearbook sponsor. Linda’s goals are to create an environment that provides opportunities for every learner to explore and apply their creative thinking through a variety of innovative methods, allowing them to showcase their learning as they continue to grow and develop.
On a personal note, Linda has a wonderful husband, two sons who are products of PISD, two grandchildren whom she adores, and two very spoiled cats.
