Ms. Melanie Altman

2023-2024 is Ms. Altman's twelfth year of teaching Choir at Murphy Middle School! Born in Washington, DC, Ms. Altman also spent part of her life in New Orleans, where she joined choir in sixth grade and began studying private voice. Upon graduation from high school in Texas, she attended Sam Houston State University (Go Bearkats!) and graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education. Aside from teaching choir and laughing with her students every day, Ms. Altman sings soprano two with the Plano Civic Chorus and Plano Chamber Chorus and enjoys performing as a chorister multiple times throughout the year. Ms. Altman loves to spend time outside of school cheering on her favorite football teams, hanging out with her family and friends, and loving on her two fluffy cats. Her favorite parts of her job as an MMS Choir director are getting to know her students, being a goofy Choir Mama, and stretching before singing! :)
