Mr. David Taylor

David Taylor is a 6th grade English and Reading Teacher. He is also the team leader for 6th grade.

As a reading teacher it goes without saying that I LOVE to read! I enjoy all types of books, but my favorite genres are horror and science fiction. I'm a huge HUGE fan of Stephen King and have almost all of his written works. I'm also a pretty big Batman fan and enjoy reading Batman comics and graphic novels.

My wife is also a teacher in Plano ISD, which works out for us because during the summers off we love to go travelling around the country. At home you can find us either relaxing and reading or playing with our two dogs; Scout (our German Shepherd/Blood Hound mix) and Kinzie (Westie).

I grew up in South Florida, but moved to Texas in 2010. I spent a year at Collin College then attended Texas A&M Commerce at the Collin Higher Education Center. I graduated cum laude with my BA in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2014. I started teaching at Otto Middle School in Fall of 2014, this is my 8th year teaching here at Otto. Go Bobcats!!!

Purpose Statement

  • I have two main purposes as a 6th grade English teacher at Otto Middle School. My first purpose is I wish to instill a passion for reading in my students. I believe that reading is the key to success not only in education, but in life. My second purpose as a teacher is to create life-long learners. I hope that my students will wonder about the world and have the desire to learn and understand about things they don’t yet understand.
