I am an Instructional Specialist, but I wear a lot of hats here at Shepard. Most of my school day is spent doing dyslexia therapy (Take Flight) and Tier 3 interventions. I am also the 504 Coordinator for the campus. Plano ISD Section 504 process involves student evaluation, intervention planning, follow-up evaluations, and reviews of accommodations to determine if interventions are effective. Any spare time is spent mentoring new teachers and bringing a bit of "Sunshine" to my fellow staff members.
A bit about me...I grew up 3 blocks outside of Chicago in a Southwest suburb called Evergreen Park. I am the oldest of 4 kids and the oldest of 15 grandkids, so I've been taking care of little ones my entire life. I've been married to Mr. Ferenschuetz (a teacher at Plano West) for 17 years. We moved to Texas in 2004, and I started teaching 3rd grade at Shepard Elementary. After teaching 3rd grade here for 15 years, I moved into my current role of Instructional Specialist. My son, Julian, started 3rd Grade at Tibbals Elementary this year, and I've started looking at school from a parent's perspective more and more. My family and I love to travel and try new foods. I am so excited for this school year. As you can see from my picture, I am ready to help all students and staff "Take Flight."
