Ms. Elizabeth Hunter-Dowd
I am from Los Angeles, California, and attended California State University at Long Beach. When I was in high school, I wanted to become a teacher but decided to major in Fine Arts/Communication Design. I worked for over 10 years in advertising and marketing communication before moving to Plano, Texas.
When my own children were in elementary school, I returned to school to get my teaching certifications and finally teach! I have certifications in ESL, General Education EC-6, and Special Education EC-12.
I am excited to be in my 4th year as the Mathews ESL Coach and Interventionist. Previously, I taught 4th-grade general education at Mathews for 2 years. Before that, I taught in special education for 15 years - 12 of which were at Mathews! (If you were counting up the years, this is my 21st year teaching!)
Both of my children grew up in Plano ISD schools.
Becky is a first-year small animal doctor of veterinary medicine in the Dallas area after graduating from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. She had wanted to be a veterinarian since 3rd grade!
Brian has a BS in Meteorology from Texas A&M and is currently a marine weather forecaster/router with a global company based in New York. He plans routes and monitors weather forecasts for commercial ships all over the world.
I have been married for 33 years to my husband, John. We love Aggies, animals, science, and traveling - we would rather be visiting a US national park than anywhere else in the world.
