Ms. Elizabeth Hunter-Dowd

I am originally from Los Angeles, California and attended California State University at Long Beach majoring in Communication Design. I worked for over 10 years in marketing communication for design studios, ad agencies, and an aircraft manufacturer before moving to Plano, Texas.

I have lived in Plano for 25 years and both my children grew up in PISD schools. Becky is a 2nd-year student in the Texas A&M Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Program. Brian graduated with a BS degree in Meteorology with a minor in Oceanography last May from Texas A&M. Whoop!

When my children were young, I went back to school and earned a dual teaching certification in special education and general education. I taught academic subjects in PISD for 15 years as a special education teacher, 5 of those as the team leader.  I am excited to start my second year as a 4th-grade teacher (team leader) at the school I love: Mathews Elementary!

My dear husband, John, and I have been married for 28 years. We love Aggies, animals, science and would rather be visiting a US national park than anywhere else in the world. We have a big, beautiful, and goofy Boxer dog named Copper.
