My name is Nikki Blacketer, and it is my privilege to serve as the music teacher at Rasor Elementary. A little about me: I am a mom of a sweet two-year old, Evelynn, and I have three small dogs. I graduated from Texas Tech University with Bachelor’s degrees in music education and in flute performance. This is now my 5th year at Rasor Elementary in Plano ISD. I teach using the Kodaly-method of music education and believe that music truly has the power to change someone's mind, heart, and life!
"With music, one's whole future life is brightened. This is such a treasure in life that it helps us over many troubles and difficulties. Music is nourishment, a comforting elixir. Music multiplies all that is beautiful and of value in life." - Zoltan Kodaly
I am so excited to be back together this year in the music room! With the fun, we will also be taking many measures to ensure student safety. We’ll sit on music stools 3 feet apart that will be cleaned after each class; we’ll sanitize all hands, equipment, and instruments; and if you’d feel more comfortable wearing a mask to sing, please make sure to bring one on your music day! If you do have to miss class, there will be activities provided on the Music Google Classroom, just look for your grade-level.
If you have questions, email is the best way to reach me: Nikki.Blacketer@pisd.edu.
I can’t wait to sing, play, dance, move, and make beautiful music together this year!!
