Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Education (B.A.L.E.) M.Ed - Masters of Educational Administration

Ms. Kijafa Tilford

I am so very proud to say that I am an Okie from Muskogee, Oklahoma, that is!!! I’ve always had a passion for teaching and learning, ever since I was very young. Throughout my years in education, I have truly fallen in love with not only teaching children but helping adults grow as educational leaders as well. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Education degree from Langston University, located in Langston, Oklahoma, in 2005. I received my Masters of Education Administration degree from Concordia University at Austin in 2011. I have worked in various roles within education for 18 years. In 2005, my daughter (who is 23 now, married and teaching 5th grade)  and I moved to North Dallas where I began the start of my teaching career as a Texas  Educator. I had the pleasure of teaching 3rd grade for many years before being promoted to a Campus Reading Specialist (Certified Literacy Coach) while interning as an Assistant Principal in a neighboring district. Just after a few years of becoming a specialist, I was named as the Assistant Principal of the school. I served as a Campus Instructional Coach (Curriculum Admin) where I worked with all grade levels and all teachers on developing the best consistent teaching practices for all students in all curricular areas. I served in that role for 3 years and enjoyed every minute of it. Upon entering my 18th year of education, I am elated to be a part of a dynamic district and an amazing school, Miller Elementary within Plano ISD, as the Assistant Principal. My goal each year is to learn more, grow myself and others and serve the wonderful community of Miller Elementary students and staff. I want to help continue the work that we as Educators do heartfelt for all of our scholars day in and out!
