Mrs. Maggie James
Teaching is not my job. It’s my calling. Every day, I wake up blessed to serve in a school and district that uphold my same values. With the support of my administration and colleagues, I make daily decisions by asking, “What’s best for these children?” I view my role as a teacher as both a responsibility and a privilege. I believe that each child and family deserves to be served with the highest quality of education, communication, and commitment. This belief is at the core of every decision I make and every action I take.
I am excited to be starting my 16th year of teaching! After receiving my Bachelor of Arts from Long Beach State University and my Master of Arts in Education from Pepperdine University, I started my teaching career teaching first, second, and third grades in Southern California. My family and I eventually made our way to the Lone Star State and I found my "home" here at Haun. This will be my fifth year teaching second grade as a Haun Husky and I don't think I could be any more grateful! When I'm not teaching, I enjoy doing anything that includes spending time with my family. I love trying new restaurants, hanging by the pool, cheering on my son at his sporting events, and baking.
I'm a life long learner and love challenging myself learning new things every day. I believe that my students teach me just as much as I teach them each year. I'm looking forward to another incredible year of love, laughter, and learning together!
