Mrs. Susan Geddes
Instructional Specialist/Dyslexia Therapist
Experience in Edcucation: This is my 12th year as a Hunt Hound and my 31st year in Plano ISD. I have been an Instructional Specialist and Dyslexia Therapist at Hunt since we opened in 2005. I taught Special Education, 1st/2nd Grade and Reading Recovery and served as Team Leader at Barron Elementary, Hedgcoxe Elementary, Sigler Elementary and Meadows Elementary. In the field of dyslexia, I worked for 10 years as a national Herman Method consultant, training teachers in dyslexia intervention during the summer months. I received my Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) certification in 2011 and became a CALT Qualified Instructor in 2013 so that I could be a teacher trainer in PISD.
Background: I am a Connecticut Yankee, but have adopted Texas as my home. I moved to Houston when I was a sophmore in high school, leaving the school in CT where my uncle was my principal! I currently live in West Plano with my husband and 2 schnauzers. All my years of teaching have been in Plano ISD, where I have had wonderful opportunities to learn and grow as an educator. I've had the honor of receiving Barron Elementary Beginning Teacher of the Year, Hedgcoxe and Hunt Teacher of the Year and Plano ISD Teacher of the Year in 2005-2006.
Interests: My interests include exercising/dancing (I grew up watching the Radio City Rockettes), reading, watching Dallas area/Longhorn sports, and crafting. I also enjoy time spent walking my dogs and listening to my husband play the guitar.
