Mrs. Monique Washington
I love Language Arts it was my favorite subject throughout my educational career. I cherish children- particularly adolescents-which makes teaching ideal for me. I appreciate he way the brain works and enjoy witnessing the light go on when my students understand.
This is my first year at Robinson Middle School where I teach eighth grade English Language Arts & Reading (ELAR). My previous teaching experiences include: 11th and 12th grade at L.D. Guinn here in Plano, 9th grade ELAR at Bolton High School, and 7th & 8th grade reading at Brame Middle School- both of those schools are in Alexandria Louisiana, my home town. Upon moving back to Texas, as an adult, I decided to give Corporate America a try and was a staff development trainer with Bank of America for 5 years. I have also worked with at risk Youth at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County-Director of Education. I have a Bachelors of Arts in English Language Arts with a minor in Sociology from Spelman College. I attained my Texas Teacher Certification in 2013. I am currently working on my Masters in Education specializing in Curriculum Development at Texas Woman's University
I’ve been married for 29 years this passed July and we have 2 beautiful adult children. My mother and I are still very close; we have brunch every Sunday. I love; reading, writing, fashion, shopping, music, movies, long walks, teaching and rainy days.
"You can have anything you want in life, if you plan and dress for it...." is my motto.
