Mrs. Pauline Decker

Hi, welcome to my class!  I am so excited to have all of you here!  I love teaching and I love showing students that there are no limits to what they can do despite their hearing loss.    One of my favorite quotes is from Mark Twain, "Kindness is a language in which the deaf can hear and the blind can see."  If we show compassion and kindness daily, it will get us far in life no matter what disability we have.

This year will be my 20th year of teaching.  I just finished my 16th year at Haggard.  This will be my first year teaching in the classroom at Vines, but I was itinerant at Vines from 2005-2016.  I have a BS from the University of North Texas in Rehabilitation Studies, a Masters in Deaf Education from Texas Women's University, and I just got my graduate certificate in DeafBlindness from Texas Tech in May 2021.   My husband and I have two grown daughters, one who just finished her Masters at the University of Oklahoma and the other who graduated in Media & Communications from Texas Tech University.  When I am at home, I love spending time with my two dogs, Greyson (Silver Lab) and Goose (Champagne Lab).  My husband and I also love to travel when we can.  Looking forward to a GREAT 2021-2022 with the Vines Vikings Deaf Ed Team!
