Becoming a Substitute
Thank you for your interest in becoming a substitute for Plano ISD. Our mission is to educate, inspire, and empower every student to reach their full potential in a dynamic world. As a substitute, you are a dynamic and indispensable part of the district, helping us educate all Plano ISD students.
Substitute Nurses: Applicants interested in becoming a substitute nurse must be licensed and selected by the Plano ISD Director of District Health. Resumes for substitute nurse positions may be sent to Staci Antelo.
Daily Pay Rates
For educators wanting to serve as substitute teachers in Plano ISD, we offer the following pay rates:
Professional/Teaching Positions:
- $120/day - High school diploma or equivalency
- $130/day - Active Texas teacher certification (any subject/area)
Substitute Professionals:
- $300/day - Counselors, Speech Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists
Substitute Nurses:
- $228/day - Licensed Registered Nurse (RN)
Support Staff/Assistant/Clerical Positions:
- $110/day - High school diploma or equivalency
Tips for completing an application:
- Please upload a high school transcript or photo of your high school diploma, or
- Upload a college transcript or a photo of your college diploma and/or
- Upload, if applicable, teacher certification documents.
- Out-of-country diplomas must be evaluated by a credential equivalency agency for U.S. equivalency. Please use this link for more information.
References:
- Two references must be completed for applications to be considered.
- One reference MUST be a supervisor, manager or executive who is familiar with your work skills and aptitude as an employee.
- Supervisory references from family members or friends are not acceptable
- Contact references to let them know an electronic reference form will come to their email address
Applicants selected as substitute candidates will be contacted via email with instructions regarding the next steps in the onboarding process.
Employment of substitutes is initiated according to the current needs of Plano ISD and the qualifications of the applicant. The district may give preference to the employment of substitute teachers who hold a valid teaching certificate or special skills/experience. Our online application system, Frontline, allows applicants to submit and update application information electronically from any device with internet access. Interested individuals are encouraged to complete an application online. Completing the substitute application does not guarantee a substitute employee position.
