Plano ISD Congratulates Our 2025 National Merit Finalists*

Plano Independent School District (Plano ISD) is pleased to announce that 84* of its students have been designated as finalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).
Out of the 1.6 million students who initially entered the competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), only approximately 15,000 finalists have been selected based on their outstanding academic records, strong leadership qualities, and significant contributions to their schools and communities.
The finalists represent a diverse group of students, hailing from various backgrounds and pursuing a wide range of interests. Their accomplishments go beyond the classroom, reflecting their commitment to extracurricular activities, community service, and leadership roles.
The National Merit Scholarship Program recognizes and honors these finalists for their exceptional achievements, providing them with the opportunity to compete for 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million. These scholarships are sponsored by corporations, foundations, colleges and universities across the United States.
Students who advance to become National Merit Scholars will receive financial assistance to pursue their undergraduate studies at the college or university of their choice. This recognition not only highlights their academic prowess but also serves as a testament to their dedication to personal growth and making a positive impact on the world.
Educators, parents, and communities are celebrating the achievements of these National Merit Scholarship Corporation finalists. Their accomplishments not only reflect their individual talents but also underscore the importance of a strong educational foundation and a commitment to excellence.
