At the October Plano ISD Board of Trustees Meeting, the board had the privilege of recognizing outstanding Plano ISD individuals and groups who exemplify excellence, dedication and the spirit of being Plano ISD Proud.

Jenna Maynard - District 12 Heroes for Children Award Winner

State Board of Education District 12 Representative Pam Little was present to recognize Plano ISD alumna and supporter Jenna Maynard, who was one of only 15 people in Texas to receive the SBOE's 2025 Heroes for Children Award, presented in Austin in September.

This award recognizes volunteers who excel in advocacy for education, render selfless acts of service and have demonstrated sustained periods of involvement in support of public schools and students. Mrs. Maynard serves on PTA boards, the Plano ISD Education Foundation Board and Supporting Kids In Plano (SKI Plano), among other organizations. She is also a substitute teacher in the district.

National PTA Schools of Excellence

Seven Plano ISD campuses earned the prestigious National PTA School of Excellence.

This national recognition shines a spotlight on schools that go above and beyond to welcome all families, support every student’s success and build strong, inclusive communities. These campuses join an elite group of schools across the country that are leading the way in family engagement and partnership excellence. This accomplishment is a direct reflection of the outstanding work of campus leaders, staff, PTA members and families who partner each day to create vibrant, supportive learning environments. By earning the National PTA School of Excellence recognition, these campuses have demonstrated a deep commitment to aligning programs and practices with the needs of their school communities. Their success exemplifies our district’s dedication to empowering families, strengthening school culture and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive.

Texas PTA President Heidi PeCoy and Texas PTA Field Service Representative Melinda Samberson were present to show their support for this tremendous honor.
