Plano ISD joined the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation on Thursday to launch Fun at Bat at Rasor Elementary School, kicking off a program that will expand to elementary schools across the district in the 2026-27 school year.

The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation brought the USA Baseball introductory bat-and-ball program to Plano ISD to help students build active habits while learning the basics of baseball and softball. Fun at Bat is designed for elementary physical education classes and teaches the fundamentals of bat-and-ball sports in a fun, age-appropriate format. The program also includes a literacy component focused on leadership, teamwork and fair play.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Rangers to bring the Fun At Bat program to Plano ISD,” said Superintendent Dr. Theresa Williams. “This engaging and accessible program not only introduces baseball and softball to students at a young age, but promotes movement, teamwork and confidence. By integrating these lessons into our physical education curriculum, we are enhancing opportunities for students to stay active, build skills and prepare students for future success.”

“The introduction of Fun at Bat in Plano ISD marks a meaningful step in our commitment to providing accessible development opportunities for the next generation,” said Karin Morris, Executive Director of the Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation. “By bringing baseball and softball into the school day, we are helping students build character and physical literacy while developing a love for the game.”
