Plano West Senior High School students Selma Zamarripa and Kelly Morefield have earned a National Championship in Audio Production at the 2026 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference, held June 1–5 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Under the guidance of teacher sponsor Sarah Mateo, the students advanced through multiple levels of competition throughout the school year. They began by winning the SkillsUSA Texas District 5 Audio Production contest in February in Waco. They then claimed the state title at the SkillsUSA Texas Leadership and Skills Conference last April in Corpus Christi.
At the national level, Selma and Kelly competed against top students from across the country and earned the gold medal, securing the national championship title.
Their achievement reflects months of dedication, technical skill and creative excellence in audio production. Plano ISD congratulates Selma and Kelly on this outstanding accomplishment.
