Future Plans
Richard Guo plans to attend Carnegie Mellon University and major in computer science. His goal is to work in the technology industry.
Activities
His activities include: serving as co-president of Plano West’s Physics Club and co-president of the Junior World Affairs Council club. He serves as volunteer chairman of Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society of Plano West. His awards include: first place at the National Academic WorldQuest competition, top 150 nationwide on the National Chemistry Olympiad exam, two-time AIME qualifier and first place at Lockheed Martin Code Quest regionals. He has volunteered his time as a member of Plano West's National Honor Society at summer camp, at teen court and as a math tutor.
Most Influential Teacher
He has identified several influential teachers. "Ms. Patricia Kite, Jasper High School Biology H teacher, for forewarning me about the rigors of high school. Ms. Vivian Zhong, Jasper High School AP Calculus BC, for challenging me like I had never been challenged before. Ms. Melanie McAllaster, Jasper High School English II H, for restoring my confidence in English. Ms. Celine Gomez, Plano West AP Literature, for teaching me how to use a theme. And finally, Mr. Robert Dissinger, Robinson Middle School Texas History, for getting me into PACE (Plano Academic and Creative Education) all those years ago."
Advice to Students
"No single event will ever define your life, so if you fail once, there will always be opportunities to recover. Also, it is beyond important to set up good habits because habits are what define you."
