Envisioning a program that would develop future leaders within the facility services department, Executive Director of Facility Services and New Construction, Juan Ramos partnered with Professional Learning Coordinator, Marcus Miller and other facility services leadership staff to bring his vision to life via the very first Facility Leadership Academy.
Facility Leadership Academy graduates Barry Carson, Pedro Rodriguez, David Godinez, Paul DeLizza and Sergio Corona with Manager Operations & Energy Service Michelle Hahn, Executive Director for Facility Services Juan Ramos and West Cluster Facility Manager Bill Couzynse.
The Academy began in January, 2019 with 19 applicants. Five applicants were selected to participate in this inaugural year. The selected participants completed various courses that focused on concepts like growth mindset, communication and human resources training as well as other leadership skills needed to succeed inside of or outside of the facility services and new construction department.

First-year leadership classes ended in October 2019, and applications have begun to be accepted for year two. The first-year graduates are putting their learning to use with two graduates accepting leadership roles outside the district and others looking to move into supervisory roles within our department.
