Clark High School world geography teacher Nicole Vickerman is the inaugural recipient of the Val Wilkie Jr. Award for Excellence in Teaching Geography. The award is presented by the Texas Alliance for Geographic Education.

Ms. Vickerman stated that she is humbled and honored to be recognized for her greatest passion in the name of someone who dedicated his life to teaching geography.

The award is named for Val Wilkie, Jr. who served as the head of the Sid Richardson Foundation in Fort Worth for many years and is renowned for his impact in education and specifically for geography education.
