Plano ISD Names New Chief Financial Officer

Jonathan “Johnny” Hill Joins Plano ISD’s Superintendent’s Cabinet

At the November 3 meeting of the Plano ISD Board of Trustees, Johnny Hill was announced as the district’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Mr. Hill is replacing CFO Randy McDowell, who is retiring after a 35-year career in public education (read related story). 

Mr. Hill’s significant experience in financial management includes six years as a public accountant and 26 years in public schools leading financial and other departments. Mr. Hill has served as business manager for Dimmitt and Perryton ISDs, CFO for Seminole ISD, assistant superintendent of financial, business and auxiliary services at Lake Travis ISD, and most recently, CFO for Allen ISD. During his career, he has been involved in passing five successful bond elections, two tax ratification elections and an attendance credit election. With prior experience working with property wealthy districts like Plano ISD, Mr. Hill is familiar with maneuvering the financial complexities these districts face. 

Holding certifications as a Registered Texas School Business Administrator and a Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Hill hopes to make a valuable contribution in this new role. “Plano ISD is known for offering a quality educational program,” Mr. Hill said. “I look forward to playing a part in providing excellent educational experiences for young people through strong financial leadership.”

Mr. HIll earned a Master of Business Administration from West Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Tech University. He has participated on multiple leadership committees and has presented at various leadership events and workshops, allowing him to build strong relationships with other professionals in educational associations, state and local governments, as well as other high performing school districts.
