This annual exhibition showcases the culmination of student artistic growth throughout the art program within Plano Independent School District. ArtCentre Executive Director Suzy Jones, says, “The Plano ISD Advanced Placement Art exhibition is always one of our most popular. The students create outstanding pieces that would make a statement in any quality art collection.” She adds, "The ArtCentre and Plano ISD are extremely grateful to Texas Health Presbyterian Plano for its generous support of this exhibition."
The artwork on display represents the Plano ISD Advanced Placement Studio Program, consisting of AP Drawing, AP Two-Dimensional Design, and Advanced Placement Three-Dimensional Design. A variety of works will be displayed, including photography, painting, ceramics and steel sculpture.
According to PISD Exhibition Coordinator Colin McGrane, Plano East Sr. High School Campus Visual Arts Team Lead and District Secondary Arts Team Lead, “The Plano ISD program is among the most highly regarded in the nation.” He says, “Student portfolios which score well at the College Board’s review often rival those of college upper-level students.” He added, “The district’s fine arts focus is on student voice and critical thinking skills. PISD student artists are expected to create work from their own perspective and be willing to experiment to push themselves to adapt and persevere.”
