QuEST Teaching Career Program Available for Future Plano ISD Graduates

April 14, 2023

Future Plano ISD graduates that aspire to be a teacher and get on-the-job training along with support for the cost of college can now apply for the Plano ISD QuESt program.

The Quality Education for Successful Teaching (QuEST) Career-Seeking Program is a pathway for Plano ISD Graduates to earn a college degree and teacher certification through our partnerships with Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) and the Alternative Certification Program Teachworthy. Plano ISD will cover the cost of tuition and books with IWU for the Bachelor of Science degree in Integrated Studies and pay the initial program costs to Teachworthy.

Candidates selected for the program will work in Plano ISD as a classroom assistant for two school years starting the fall after they graduate.  During this time, they will complete the Plano ISD Core-30 and Teachworthy coursework. In their third year in the program, they will be eligible to apply for a teaching position as an Associate Teacher. As an Associate Teacher, they will lead their own classroom while they work to complete their degree with IWU. When their degree is conferred, they are eligible to be hired as a full-time teacher while completing the Teachworthy certification process.

Once they have their Standard Teaching Certificate, they are required to stay with Plano ISD for two more years.

Informational meetings will take place on each senior high school campus the week of April 17. Students must attend one to learn more!

The application is now open with a deadline of Sunday, May 7 at 11:59 P.M.
