Former Wildcat State Champion Inducted to Texas High School Football Hall of Fame

A Plano ISD legend will forever be immortalized at the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame.
Pat Thomas, a standout defensive back for Plano Senior High School, was one of nine members from the Class of 2025 inducted at the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in Waco on Saturday, May 10, 2025. Thomas earned All-District honors three times and was named to the All-State Team his senior year in 1971, when he helped lead the Wildcats to the Class 3A State Championship with a 21-20 win over Gregory-Portland.

Thomas went on to attend Texas A&M, where he earned All-American honors in 1974 and 1975 and earned a reputation as one of the top defensive backs in college football. He was a two-time consensus All-American for the Aggies in 1975 and 1975. Selected by the Los Angeles Rams in the second round of the 1975 NFL Draft, his NFL career included 26 interceptions and seven fumble recoveries in six seasons. Thomas was also named:
- Second-Team All-Pro in 1978
- First-Team All-Pro in 1980
- Pro Bowler in 1978 and 1980
Thomas was joined at the ceremony by his family and former Plano Senior High School Head Football Coach Tom Kimbrough, a 2023 Texas Football Hall of Fame Inductee.
"I am so proud of Pat, not only as a player, but as the person he turned into," said Kimbrough. "He was a lot of fun to coach and a big part of the history and winning tradition at Plano Senior High School."
