Monitoring Winter Weather

Plano ISD schools are closed through Friday, February 19. Based on current weather forecasts, Plano ISD plans to resume in-person and PISD School@Home classes on Monday, Feb. 22 unless otherwise announced. Read more about school closure and available resources.

Communication Channels

  • The Plano ISD website: Weather-related closures and updates will be posted in real time on the Plano ISD home page as well as campus websites.
  • The Plano ISD Mobile App: Download the mobile app and log in to receive specific messages related to your school. However, weather closures will be sent to all app users, even if you are not logged in to the system.
  • School Messenger (e-mail and telephone messages): The district will provide updated information as needed to all parent and emergency contact telephone numbers and email addresses in the system.
  • Social media – Facebook and Twitter: Weather-related closures will be posted immediately to Plano ISD’s Facebook and Twitter pages. You do not have to sign up for Facebook or Twitter to view these pages; however, followers will receive instant updates in their newsfeeds.
    Local news media: Plano ISD will make information available to local television and radio stations and will enlist their assistance in communicating with our audiences.

Plano ISD continues to monitor next week’s weather forecast, which may include extreme weather conditions that could make commuting to school unsafe. 

If inclement weather conditions call for the closure of school facilities next Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, all students would move to remote instruction. Communication regarding facility closure and moving to remote learning will be provided via the usual district channels: 

  • The Plano ISD website: Weather-related closures and updates will be posted in real time on the Plano ISD home page as well as campus websites.
