The Business Professionals of America (BPA) 2021 National Leadership Conference was held virtually on April 26 through May 9. Eleven Plano ISD BPA students advanced to the national competition and joined nearly 6,000 conference attendees from across the nation to compete in more than 5,000 national-level business skills competitions.
“Each year, the National Leadership Conference for Business Professionals of America offers Plano ISD CTE students the opportunity to showcase their skills and compete against students from across the country. This year was especially difficult for students because the competitions were held virtually. We are very proud of our students at every level of competition as they persevered in learning new skills. This is Tiffany’s second year in competition, and her dedication and hard work are apparent.” said CTE Coordinator Kelley Moss.

Tiffany Hwang, Plano East Senior High, Digital Media Production, first place – national champion
Jiayu Fan, Jasper High School, Digital Media Production, twelfth place
Vishnuu Gopi, Plano West Senior High, Linux Operating System Fundamentals, fourth place
Tiffany Hwang was honored by the board on June 22 for earning her national championship. Tiffany took first place in regional competition and fourth place at the state level to qualify for the national competition where she finish in first place. During the board meeting, Tiffany said that the most difficult aspect of the competition was that it was virtual. Additionally, she said that she was able to use the video she created for the competition to help simplify the complicated college application process for others. The project allowed her to experience solving a real world issue and provided an entrepreneurial perspective on her project.
