Mental Health and Wellness
What is Mental Health?
Mental health includes our emotions, mind, and relationships with others. It’s displayed in how we think, feel, and act.
It helps us determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important in every stage of life; from child, to teen, all the way through becoming an adult.
Mental health, which encompasses social, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral well-being, is central to building a school culture and climate where all students, and all who serve them, thrive. Remember that everyone goes through difficult times, and no matter how long it’s been going on, it’s important that everyone has someone they can talk to about it.
In Plano ISD, we are committed to supporting the mental health and well-being of every student. In accordance with Texas Senate Bill 12 (SB12), we are notifying families of the mental health services available to students. These services are voluntary and are only provided with written parent/guardian consent.
TCHATT (Texas Child Health Access Through Telemedicine)
In partnership with Texas Children's Hospital, T-CHATT offers freel telehealth support for students in grades 4-12. Services include behavioral health assessments, shrot-term therapy and care coordination. All sessions take place during the school day in a confidential setting.
School Social Workers
Plano ISD's licensed School Social Workers are here to support students and families navigating mental health concerns, connecting with community resources, and accessing crisis intervention when needed. Working alongside families, campus staff, and community partners, School Social Workers help ensure every student receives coordinated, wraparound support. Visit our Social Worker page to learn more.
LCDC (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor)

See Something, Say Something

In Plano ISD, school safety is a top priority and everyone can be a part of keeping schools safe. Students, staff and parents can anonymously share safety and other concerns with school administrators at any time of day using a computer or mobile device. The anonymous Tip Line is available as a feature in the district's custom mobile app for students and parents. The app is available for download in the App Store and Google Play. If you do not have a smart phone, you can access the Tip Line from any web-enabled device at www.pisd.edu/tipline.
NOTE:
- The Tip Line is not a substitute for calling the police to report any in-progress incident.
- In cases of an emergency and an immediate response is needed, please call 911.
- Using the Tip Line to make a false report or threat of violence involving a school is punishable as a felony under Texas Law.
