Computer Science Summer Bridge Program | Grade 8

Program Description

• Students in this program will learn to program solutions while using the Python programming language, learn about careers in computer science, and engage with professionals from the computer science field.
• Two levels of this program will be offered:
  • Beginner Level 1 - students who have little to no experience in programming
  • Novice Level 2 - students who took Fundamentals of Computer Science and/or Python specific camps.

(Students may only attend one session and one level each summer.)

Eligible Students

• Rising 9th graders based on an enrollment formula being used to accept students. 

Dates & Times

• Session 1:  June 1 - 4, 2026
• Session 2:  June 8 - 11, 2026
  (Beginner & Novice levels are offered during BOTH sessions)
• 7:45 am - 12:00 pm

• Clark High School

Cost

• There is no cost to attend the CS Summer Bridge program.

Transportation

• Busing is provided from the students’ neighborhood HIGH SCHOOL or SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL campus.
• Please keep in mind that the neighborhood campus may not be the campus the student attends during the school year. 
• Summer bus routes will be posted in May.

Registration

• Registration for the 2026 Computer Science Summer Bridge program will be completed through Skyward Family Access.
  • If you are using the Skyward app on a mobile device, you may not see the Pre-Registration tile.  Please complete the registration steps on a computer or in a mobile device's internet browser.
• There are 2 steps in the registration process:
  • Step 1: Pre-Registration (March 23 - April 17, 2026) --- Click on the “Computer Science Summer Bridge Pre-Registration” icon in Skyward Family Access dashboard.
  • Step 2: The PISD Summer School Office will register students into their preferred Sessions and Class Level.
    • Parents will be notified of their student’s registration status through their email address on record in Skyward.
• NOTE: Spots are not guaranteed.  Students will be enrolled in their preferred date and course on a first-come, first-served basis.  All remaining students will be placed on a Waiting List and will be enrolled if seats are available.
