Teaching and Training
The Teaching and Training program of study prepares students for careers related to teaching, instruction, and creation of instructional and enrichment materials. The program of study introduces CTE learners to a wide variety of student groups and their corresponding needs. It familiarizes them with the processes for developing curriculum, coordinating educational content, and coaching group and individuals.

The Education and Training Career Cluster focuses on planning, managing, and providing education and training services and related learning support services. All parts of courses are designed to introduce learners to the various careers available within the Education and Training career cluster.

Instructional Practices is a field-based/internship course combined with classroom instruction designed to give students the opportunity to explore careers in teaching and occupations working directly with children and adolescents. Students explore the guidance and development of children physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually through three days of classroom study per week and two days of internship experience per week at field site rotations.Internship sites include the educational preschool located on the senior high campus and nearby elementary and middle schools requiring students to travel independently. Students will plan and implement classroom activities while observing and recording development. This course offers training to students interested in professions related to human development, psychology, medicine, education, and childcare.

Professional portfolios will be created with material supporting an educational/career plan for the future.Students will earn 3.0 credits for successful completion of this course which includes one class period per school day on campus and two class periods per school day allocated for early release for off campus work experience.

In this advanced field-based internship course, students will experience two days of classroom study per week and three days of internship experience per week at field site rotations.Internship sites include the educational preschool located on the senior high campus and nearby elementary and middle schools requiring students to travel independently. This course offers advanced training to students interested in professions related to human development, psychology, medicine, education, and childcare. This is an Honors Level course.
