Plano ISD Health Sciences Academy
The Plano ISD Health Sciences Academy (HSA) is an exciting opportunity for students interested in pursuing a future in the health care field. The HSA began in 2013 as part of Williams High School. Health Science Academy students are prepared to enter the health care field upon graduation and may also have college credit hours to enable them to advance in a college or university.
The Plano ISD Health Sciences Academy (HSA) is a four-year program that provides learning opportunities through Collin College to earn workforce dual credit and/or a Plano ISD pathway in biomedical sciences. Through the Collin College partnership, the HSA can offer students the opportunity to earn workforce dual credit in a healthcare track, academic dual credit, an industry-based certification in a healthcare field. Additionally, students have the opportunity to earn an Associates of Applied Science Degree or Associates of Science from Collin College. The biomedical science program includes courses in Principles of Biomedical Science, Human Body Systems, and Medical Interventions.
This four-year program begins in freshman year of high school and continues through senior year of high school. However, starting in the 2024-2025 school year we will be accepting current 9th and 10th graders depending on available open spots.
Selected students will attend Williams High school for 9th and 10th grades and Plano East High school for 11th and 12th grade. HSA students are just like any other student at Williams HS and Plano East and have the same opportunities to participate in all activities offered at each school, including sports, choir, band, clubs etc.
Students in the HSA work with state-of-the-art equipment and are connected to our local medical community through guest speakers, field trips and clinical placements in skilled-based classes.
