Program Features and Benefits
Students at the Plano Wildcat Collegiate Academy are simultaneously enrolled as Collin College and Plano ISD students. College and high school classes will be taken at Vines High School for grades 9 and 10 and at Plano Senior High School for grades 11 and 12.
This program is open for all 8th graders to apply for the second cohort of the 2025-2026 school year. Students who are not in the Plano Senior High School feeder pattern will receive a transfer to join the Wildcat Nation. We will admit 125 students each school year.
Program Features
- Dual credit tuition and textbooks will be offered at no cost to students
- Bus routes will be available from high school campuses to the Wildcat Collegiate Academy
- Students can choose to earn an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science
- Dual credit instruction will be provided by college credentialed faculty
- A cohort model provides:
- Academic and study skills support
- Dedicated time for student support and collaboration
- Guest speakers
- College visits, including Collin College in 9th grade
- Collegiate Academy counselor and advisor supports
- Intensive college planning activities
- A Summer Bridge Program to support the transition from 8th grade to college will include:
- Team Building
- AVID strategies
- College mindsets, skills, and strategies
- TSI Assessment practice, as needed
- College campus visits, including the Collin College Plano Campus in 9th grade
Program Benefits
- Provides a head start on college to minimize time and tuition costs for students
- Students have increased readiness and success in college, creating a seamless transition from high school to a 4-year college
- Easy transfer of college credits to Texas public universities. Some out of state and private accept credits according to their school policies.
- Students complete the Texas Core Curriculum and up to two years of college while completing their high school diploma
