Fashion Design
The Fashion Design Program of study focuses on occupational and educational opportunities associated with fashion design. This program of study includes designing clothing and accessories along with garment styles, history of costume, textiles, elements and principles of design, fashion designers, sketching, clothing construction, retail, merchandising, promotion, and careers in the fashion industry.

In this course, students will build upon the skills and knowledge acquired in Fashion Design I. Content consists of draping, flat pattern, and advanced construction methods. Students will design, construct, and market their own clothing collection. Fashion merchandising, business concepts, portfolio development, guest speakers, and field trips are integral parts of this course. The year culminates with the production of a fashion show featuring student designs.

This course provides opportunities for students to participate in a work-based learning experience that combines classroom instruction with paid business and industry employment experiences. Professional portfolios will be created with material supporting an educational/career plan for the future.Students will earn 3.0 credits for successful completion of this course which includes one class period per school day on campus and two class periods per school day allocated for early release for off campus work experience.
