Plano ISD’s February Board of Trustees meeting was filled with heartfelt appreciation and well-deserved recognition as the district celebrated its outstanding staff, dedicated school counselors, and influential community leaders.

The evening began with a special appearance from students in the district’s Head Start program, who led the Pledges of Allegiance to the United States and Texas flags. After the pledges, each student shared their favorite part of being a part of Plano ISD Head Start. Registration is now open for the 2025-2026 school year! February 2025 Plano ISD Proud Award Winners

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Theresa Williams had the privilege of recognizing three exceptional staff members as recipients of the February Plano ISD Proud Award. These individuals embody the district’s core values and go above and beyond in their service to students and colleagues.

Allison Welch, Administrative Assistant for Professional Learning/Leadership & Operations

With 17 years of service, Allison’s ability to foster strong relationships across the district and her dedication to professional learning initiatives make her an invaluable asset. She is known for her collaborative spirit and unwavering support of leadership development programs. Colleagues describe her as a welcoming presence whose kindness and efficiency set a high standard.

Lashonda Carter, Head Start Teaching Assistant

Nominated by her principal, Lashonda—affectionately known as “Shonda”—brings enthusiasm and warmth to her role. Her upbeat demeanor and bubbly personality is well-known among students and staff alike, creating a welcoming and joyful atmosphere. Her dedication extends to mentoring paraprofessionals and continuously advancing her own professional development.

Nastacia Kelly, Title 1 Instructional Coach at Carpenter Middle School

Described as a leader administrators dream of, Nastacia’s ability to connect with students and staff fosters collaboration and growth. Her leadership in Professional Learning Communities and solution-focused mindset have strengthened campus morale and cohesion, making her a trusted mentor and advocate for excellence.

Recognizing Plano ISD’s Dedicated School Counselors

In celebration of National School Counseling Week, the district took time to honor the vital role of school counselors in supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional well-being. Deputy Superintendent Lisa Wilson introduced the recognition, emphasizing the invaluable impact counselors have on students’ success. Board Secretary Tarrah Lantz read an official resolution in their honor, with Vice President Dr. Lauren Tyra presenting a ceremonial copy to representatives of the Counseling Services team.

Honoring the Legacy of Fred Moses

The evening concluded with a solemn yet heartfelt tribute to the late Fred Moses, a beloved community leader whose contributions to Plano ISD and beyond left a lasting legacy. The Board will formally consider a resolution recognizing his service, and a ceremonial copy was presented to members of the Moses family in attendance.

Board President Nancy Humphrey closed the evening by expressing deep admiration and appreciation to all those honored.

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees and district leadership team, I want to extend our sincere gratitude to all those recognized tonight,” Humphrey said. “Congratulations to our Plano ISD Proud Award winners, our school counselors, and the family of Mr. Fred Moses. Your dedication, passion, and hard work do not go unnoticed. You make all of us Plano ISD Proud!”
