Mrs. Knighton
Student Support Liaison
In 1998 I graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies. I was fortunate enough to have my student teaching experience right here at Dooley Elementary just before graduating. I later received a Master's degree in Teacher Leadership from Lamar University. I have spent all but one of my teaching years at Dooley Elementary and can honestly say I am a Dooley Dragon Forevermore!
I have served students in the following roles: Fourth-grade teacher (1 year), Second-grade teacher and team leader (22 years), Title I Support Teacher providing intensive interventions (3 years), and this is my first year in my current role as our campus Student Support Liaison.
I believe that building a relationship with my students is the first step in creating a successful learning environment. Former students will tell you that I love to incorporate relevant life stories to provide real-world examples of the objectives we are learning at school. It is also important to me to build a relationship with my students' parents. I believe that we can achieve more together and that parent involvement plays a valuable role in our students' social, emotional, and academic success.
My family is amazing! I am married to my husband Bill, who is a 1983 graduate of Plano East High School. Our two adult children, Ryan & Brandon, are former Dooley Dragons. I have spent most of my adult life being a teacher and a parent at Dooley Elementary. There is no other place that I would rather be! Dooley Dragons Forevermore!
