Mrs. Emma Correa
School Counselor
My name is Emma Correa, and I am the counselor here at Dooley. I have been a school counselor since 2004. I started my career in Pennsylvania (where I was born and raised) and have worked predominantly at the elementary level. I began working at Plano ISD in 2018. I have over 15 years experience in education and I have been an elementary school counselor my whole professional career. In Pennsylvania, I worked with students from K-8th grade. I truly enjoy working with elementary students. Being a school counselor is truly my life's purpose! Helping students make changes, even small ones, is incredibly rewarding.

The Vision of Dooley Elementary School counseling department is that all students will achieve academic and personal growth, and will prepare for a future career path that is aligned with their interests and abilities. Students will be prepared to function as empowered members of our community where they show empathy, compassion, and respect for all.
The Mission of Dooley Elementary School counseling department is to provide a data-driven comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the needs and interests of all students, as it relates to their academic, personal, and CCMR development. The School Counselor facilitates actions to promote a positive school climate that fosters acceptance, respect, empathy, and perseverance through life challenges. School Counselors advocate for equity for all students so that they have the opportunity to acquire the skills needed in order to achieve success in an ever-changing world.
I got a letter about my student being invited to be in a lunch group. Are they in trouble?
Absolutely not! Groups are open to all students and if there is a particular group topic that is a perfect fit for your student, I will invite them. You are under no obligation to have your child participate. It is simply something we are offering because we think your child could make a significant contribution to our learning.
My child said you were in their class today. Why?
Part of The Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs is providing Tier I services to students. Tier I refers to services that ALL students in a school receive. I visit every classroom here at Dooley on a bi-weekly basis to provide state mandated and district-mandated counseling lessons to all students. K-2 students see me for 30 minutes twice a month while 3-5 students see me for 45 minutes twice a month.
