Dr. Kim Blackwell

I am honored and excited to start my journey as the new principal of  Dooley Elementary School! As a parent of a former Dooley Dragon, I know first hand how extraordinary the Dooley community is and my primary goal is to be a champion in partnering together to make sure ALL of our students at Dooley reach their full potential.

My journey in education began as a Special Education teacher and I later served as a Theatre Arts, Dance, Reading Mastery, and English Language Arts and Reading teacher for grades Kindergarten - 8th grade. I also had the pleasure of teaching adults in college, instructing and coaching future teachers. My experiences also include earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration and a doctorate degree in Supervision, Curriculum, and Instruction, both from Texas A&M University-Commerce, Go Lions!

Additionally, I served as an Assistant Principal in Plano ISD at Hedgcoxe, Miller, and Thomas elementaries, where I had the pleasure of working alongside dynamic educators who helped shape the leader I am today. I am passionate in my belief that all students can learn at high levels and can’t wait to share my experiences as I learn more about the strengths and vision of the Dooley community.

My biggest fan is my husband, Arthur, and together we lead a blended family of five-(4) sons and our daughter, who is attending Stephen F. Austin University. We are also dog parents to a miniature schnauzer-Miles and an American bulldog-Coco. During our free time we love to travel, volunteer, and spend time with our family and friends.

I am overjoyed to join this community and can’t express just how excited I am to be a Dooley Dragon!

GO DRAGONS!!!!!
